Burton community café excels in recent food safety check

A community café in Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire has been awarded a top rating following a recent food hygiene check by the local council, to the delight of volunteers and customers.

The café, called Coffeecom, was inspected by environmental health officers from East Staffordshire Borough Council recently. The café, which is run by local volunteers, only opened in October 2012, but the results of the inspection show that it is already on track when it comes to food hygiene standards.

The council’s inspectors found that the café, located on Hawfield Lane in Burton, was complying with all rules and regulations relating to standards of cleaning and control procedures. Food hygiene training standards amongst staff members also seemed to be excellent, as all food safety procedures and practices were being followed.

This is great news for the venue’s bosses, as well as its many customers. Coffeecom’s managers claim that the café is being “well used”, and it is likely to continue to be popular now that it has been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating from the local council, which is the highest rating it is possible to get.
