As part of ongoing investigations into standards at Fife Council residential care homes, the Care Commission is reportedly focusing its attention on one Glenrothes facility in particular.

According to a report in The Courier, Alan McLure House in Glenrothes is under close scrutiny from the Care Commission (CC) after a sudden drop in care and management standards was uncovered in a recent investigation. The home has garnered “good” and “very good” reports from previous investigations throughout 2010, but an unannounced investigation last November revealed some problems at the facility.

The Courier also reported that possibly as many as 13 staff members – including management – have been suspended whilst the latest investigation at Alan McLure House continues. The council has refused to comment on this claim nor confirm that care training standards at the home have started to slip.
A spokesperson for the Care Commission, however, has stated:

“We are aware of a number of recent issues concerning poor standards of care being provided for residents at Alan McLure House.
“Our last inspection report awarded the service grades of two (weak) and we demanded that the service provider immediately address these concerns to improve the standard of care being provided to residents and their families.”
