An upmarket leisure resort and country club near Barton-under-Needwood in Staffordshire has received a scathing report on its hygiene and cleanliness, following an inspection by the council’s environmental health team.
Earlier this month, the Wychnor Park Country Club was visited by a council inspector, who found a number of breaches of food safety regulations. These included blocked drains, dirty dish washing areas, broken crockery left lying around, dirty floors, broken refrigerators and some improper storage of food items.
In response to the environmental health team’s findings, the resort manager at the Wychnor Park Country Club said that the restaurant had been run by a franchise until recently and it was waiting for another to take over catering operations and initiate new food hygiene training for staff.
As part of East Staffordshire Borough Council’s Rate My Place food safety scheme, the country club was awarded just two out of five stars following the inspection. Premises which are awarded zero stars in this scheme are considered to be in serious breach of food hygiene regulations, whilst five-star premises are going the extra mile to meet and exceed the required standards.
