A care home in the West Sussex town of Crawley has been told that it still needs to make improvements, after a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) revealed that not enough been done to bring quality levels up to scratch.
CQC inspectors visited the Oakhurst Grange Nursing Home in October 2012. Due to a number of problems, particularly regarding record-keeping, care training levels amongst staff and the prescribing of medicine, the watchdog issued the home’s owners with two warning notices requiring them to make urgent improvements.
The Oakhurst home, which is run by Bupa Care Homes, has now received a second visit from CQC inspectors, who have found that action on certain areas is still needed. According to the official report, which was released earlier this month:

“People’s records were not always accurate or fit for purpose.
“Since our last inspection we have been informed of a number of people who have lived at the service who had sustained unexplained bruises and injuries.
“As a result the service has been co-operating with the local authority safeguarding team who have been investigating some of these incidents.”
