First aid training FAQs answered pt.2
In the first part of this guide, we looked at some of the most commonly asked questions relating to first aid training, along with their answers. Let’s take a look at a few more:
Is first aid training suitable for treating children?
Most training courses cover first aid skills suitable for treating adults, but there are separate courses designed for treating children under a certain age. Many of the same skills and topics will apply to both adult and child patients, but paediatric first aid training courses focus on the specific needs of children, as well as their physical size and other physical attributes. An example of where adult first aid could not be used is when handling a medical emergency involving babies or very small children. Only skills and knowledge learned during paediatric training will be safe to use in this kind of situation.
Where do I go to get first aid training?
There are many training providers you can use for your first aid training, but you should always look for a provider that is approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). You should also be looking for a company which has lots of experience in first aid training, preferably with high-profile clients in healthcare industries, as well as lots of positive reviews and feedback from its customers.
