First aid work training: do you know what to do in an emergency?

If someone suddenly becomes injured or falls ill at work, it is important that someone is able to keep a cool head and administer first aid. This could potentially save the person’s life.

So, if someone fell ill in your workplace, would you know what to do? Taking a first aid training course as well as regular refresher courses can strengthen your knowledge of medical conditions and how to respond to them. This means that when the time comes, you will instinctively know what to do. As well as learning how to manage an incident and importantly, how to properly resuscitate a person, you’ll also be able to deal with:

  • Bleeding
  • Unconsciousness
  • Shock
  • Common workplace injuries

As an employer, it is a legal requirement for you to have one employee who knows first aid. However, it can be well worth sending all of your staff on first aid at work training courses, just in case the designated first aider is off and an emergency occurs. This can make your workplace a safer place overall, as well as giving your employees valuable skills they can use both in and outside of the workplace.
