Harborough nursing home wins award for high care standards
A residential care home based in the Leicestershire town of Harborough has been given an award for the high standards of care it provides to residents.
The Willows Nursing and Residential Home, which is based on Harborough’s Coventry Road, was awarded the Quality Assessment Framework. It was only one of 19 similar facilities across the whole of the country to receive such an honour.
The County Hall cabinet member of Adults and Communities for Leicestershire County Council commented on the award, which was introduced in order to drive up standards in care facilities throughout the county. Councillor David Sprason said:
“It’s important that people who live in care homes are offered a high standard of care.
“This Quality Assessment Framework recognises those homes which meet this standard, giving peace of mind to residents and relatives. I would encourage other homes to join the scheme and show that they put their residents’ needs first.”
Other care facilities aiming to receive this prestigious award will need to step up their efforts when it comes to staff care training levels, as well as cleanliness, health and safety practices and delivering person-centred care.
