Maintaining excellent standards in health and safety is crucial in any business, no matter how large or small. However, small firms often face more of a challenge as they have limited resources, as well as being less able to cope financially with the cost of fines and compensation claims relating to health and safety failings.

Brush up on health and safety rules and regulations to see what you should be doing, and invite suggestions from employees on how to improve

Attend a health and safety training course. There are different levels of training you can undertake, as well as courses tailored to different work environments. It can also be advantageous to send employees to complete health and safety training, enabling them to contribute to a company’s ethos of safe working.
