It’s a new year – time to revisit your workplace risk assessment
One of the most important things to do as a business owner in order to adhere to health and safety laws is to conduct a full and thorough risk assessment. This means going over your work premises and practices with a fine-tooth comb, identifying hazards and taking steps to make work conditions safer for your employees.
However, a risk assessment is not just carried out once. Business owners must review and revise health and safety measures on a regular basis, to ensure that they keep on top of any new risks or hazards which may crop up.
As we are starting a brand new year, now may be the ideal time for you to revisit your workplace’s health and safety risk assessment. You can either do this yourself or use the services of a professional health and safety consultant. If you choose to do the assessment yourself, you can find out all you need to know from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), or even better, on a health and safety training course.
It is particularly important to carry out a new risk assessment if anything has changed within your business recently (i.e. construction work or an influx of new staff members).
