Scunthorpe nursery receives five-star food hygiene rating
A nursery in Scunthorpe has been awarded a five-star rating for food hygiene from the local council, just one year after scoring just three stars in the 2009 inspection.
The Do Re Mi Nursery, on Chapman Avenue in Scunthorpe, was awarded the five-star rating following a visit by inspectors from North Lincolnshire Council last year.
The manager of the nursery, Jayne Kenny, attributes the glowing food hygiene report to the hard work and dedication of the chef at Do Re Mi, Carmela Heely.
Ms Kenny said of her chef’s excellent work:
“I think she’s taken notice of what was said last year, and she’s over the moon about the new rating.
“When the council came to do their investigation last year we took everything they said on board.
“Carmela’s been keeping up-to-date, and she’s been going on training courses.”
Despite only having a small kitchen and working on her own, Ms Heely has managed to deliver food to 45 hungry children plus staff. She has even found the time to attend food hygiene awareness training courses, which may be responsible for the nursery’s excellent rating from the council.
