A care home in Sleaford has been told that its standards must improve or it may be closed down by official bodies.
Guardian Care Homes (UK), the owner of the Roxholm Hall Care Centre, was issued with a formal warning from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after a series of unannounced visits were made to the home.
Inspectors found a host of problems, mainly relating to staffing levels and care training standards for staff. There were not enough staff on duty at all times, and those that were working did not have sufficient breaks and were forced to work long hours. Not all cleaning tasks were carried out, as cleaning staff were often covering for care workers.
Additionally, new staff members were not provided with a proper induction or care training, nor were staff properly supervised or appraised. Records of care training were incomplete, and residents were not asked for their views on the care they were receiving.
The CQC’s regional director Andrea Gordon said of the Sleaford home:

“Our inspectors will return in the near future and if we find that the required progress is not made we won’t hesitate to use our legal powers to protect the people who use this service.”
