Using food hygiene training to reduce the risk of food poisoning in your restaurant
As a restaurant, cafe or other food-related business, the worst possible thing that could happen is a food poisoning outbreak.
This sort of unfortunate circumstance can be awful for your restaurant’s reputation, which will in turn affect customer numbers and turnover. More damagingly, a food poisoning outbreak can get you into serious trouble with environmental health authorities.
To avoid this nightmare situation, you need to ensure that your restaurant or cafe is going above and beyond when it comes to food hygiene standards and adhering to regulations. There is no such thing as being too careful, as even one slip-up could cause a food hygiene disaster.
So, what can you do to keep your standards high? The best way to know what is expected of you and how you can live up to your responsibilities is to go on a food hygiene course and to send your managers and supervisors to receive at least some basic food hygiene training.
A Level 1 Food Safety course will give you an outline of the basics, but you can advance up to four levels to achieve a level 4 award in food safety. With the knowledge and insight you acquire in one of these courses, you should be able to return to your restaurant and make the right changes to protect customers and your business.
