About the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
Learners will build on their experience working with children and gain new residential childcare skills with this course. Learn how to support safeguarding and the children in your care. We also offer level 5 courses for learners working in senior/management roles.
This qualification replaced the QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare, which in turn replaced the NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare.
This diploma is fully accredited by Highfield Qualifications.
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare – Core Information
Course Length
While enrolled students are encouraged to learn at their own pace, the RQF Level 3 in Residential Childcare must be completed in 24 months, but can be finished sooner.
Certificate Validity
This course provides an accredited, nationally-recognised lifetime qualification. Our diplomas are great additions to any CV.
Delivery
The RQF Level 3 in Residential Childcare is completed via an innovative online portfolio with the help of a dedicated assessor and support team.

Entry Requirements
To enrol, students must be based in England and working in a relevant residential childcare role.
Delivery and Certification
Our assessment process is designed so that delegates are prepared for the challenges their occupation will involve. Delegates are appointed a vocationally trained Assessor who helps assemble the e-portfolio and guides them for the duration of the diploma. Email and telephone support is also provided throughout the RQF Level 3 programme and the resources available will be provided as needed. At the end of this program delegates will receive a qualification accredited by Highfield Qualifications.

Outline of Course
To achieve this qualification, learners must gain a total of 61 credits by achieving all 16 mandatory units, totalling 53 credits, and a minimum of 3 optional units, granting a minimum of 8 extra credits.

- Unit 8: Support attachment and positive relationships for children and young people in residential childcare.
- Unit 9: Support the well-being and resilience of children and young people in residential childcare.
- Unit 10: Support children and young people in residential childcare to manage their health.
- Unit 11: Support the rights, diversity and equality of children and young people in residential childcare.
- Unit 12: Participate in teams to benefit children and young people in residential childcare
- Unit 13: Support the development of socially aware behaviour with children and young people in residential childcare.

Where can I progress after this course?
