Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare – Core Information
Throughout this course, candidates will learn to manage young people and children. Candidates will also learn about promoting professional development and championing equality, diversity and inclusion, and much more.
Course Length
While enrolled students are encouraged to learn at their own pace, the NVQ Level 5 in Residential Childcare must be completed in 24 months, but can be finished sooner.

Entry Requirements
To enrol, students must be based in England and working in a relevant residential childcare role.
Delivery and Certification
Our assessment process is designed so that delegates are prepared for the challenges their occupation will involve. Delegates are appointed a vocationally trained Assessor who helps assemble the e-portfolio and guides them for the duration of the diploma. Email and telephone support is also provided throughout the NVQ Level 5 programme and the resources available will be provided as needed. At the end of this program delegates will receive a qualification accredited by Highfield Qualifications.

Outline of Course
To achieve the HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) (NVQ) learners must achieve a minimum of 65 credits overall. Learners must achieve the following rules of combination: complete all units in mandatory group A totalling 57 credits, and achieve a minimum of 3 units for at least 8 credits from Optional Group B.

- Unit 3: Lead and manage a team within a residential childcare setting.
- Unit 4: Lead practice to support the safeguarding and protection of children and young people in residential childcare.
- Unit 5: Lead practice for communication and information management in residential childcare settings.
- Unit 6: Manage risk in residential childcare.
- Unit 7: Lead and manage group living in residential childcare.
- Unit 8: Lead a service that can support children or young people who have experienced harm or abuse.
- Unit 9: Lead practice to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people in residential childcare.
- Unit 10: Lead practice to support the well-being and resilience of children and young people in residential childcare.
- Unit 11: Lead practice in the safe use of digital, internet and mobile technology with children and young people.
- Unit 12: Lead practice to promote the rights, diversity and equality of children and young people in residential childcare.
- Unit 13: Lead networks and multi-agency work to benefit children and young people in residential childcare.
- Unit 14: Implement a Positive Relationship Policy in residential childcare.
- Unit 15: Undertake professional development in residential childcare settings.
