First Aid Training FAQs

What is first aid training?

First aid training is a structured course designed to provide workplace first aiders with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to assess injuries, deliver emergency treatment, and stabilise casualties until medical professionals arrive. Having a sufficient number of trained first aiders, along with the appropriate equipment, is not just best practice—it’s a legal requirement for most UK workplaces.

Can you give first aid if not trained?

Whilst untrained staff may assist in a medical emergency, they may not be equipped to deliver the standard of care required. It is strongly advised that all staff take even a basic First Aid Awareness course to understand the fundamentals of providing treatment.

What do you do in first aid training?

Most of our first aid training courses are split into two parts. Learners will first gain a strong theoretical knowledge of various first aid processes, risk factors and treatments. They then put this knowledge to the test in a practical session.

Each specific first aid course might differ in its specific structure.

If you have any questions, our team is on hand to help you find the ideal first aid training course for your workplace.

What to wear to first aid training?

Most first aid training features a practical element, where learners may need to lay, kneel or move around while practicing techniques like CPR, recovery positions and wound management. For this reason, learners should opt for comfortable clothes that do not restrict movement. We also recommend removing jewellery before partaking in any practical component of courses to prevent injury. There is no strict dress code for our courses unless specified.

Does first aid training include CPR?

Yes, the majority of our first aid courses include CPR and AED instruction, and these components are often mandatory to ensure certification. We can also adapt training to include site-specific requirements on request. Speak to one of our training advisors to discuss a bespoke first aid course for your team.
